Story
My cousin Samantha is the eldest grandchild in our family. She is generous, hardworking and the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back. On November 21, 2024 she lost her husband of 27 years. Jamie passed peacefully surrounded by his wife, daughter, brother, parents, sister-in law, mother in law and loving family members. Jamie and Samantha met the summer of 1995 in our whole family’s favorite vacation spot, Ocean City, MD. He noticed her dancing to Copa Cabana by Barry Manilow and quickly approached her to say hello. To know Samatha and Jamie is to love them. Sam and Jamie married in 1997 and 6 months later Jamie was diagnosed with Leukemia. They moved to Seattle, Washington for nearly a year while Jamie underwent a bone marrow transplant, his devoted brother Peter was his bone marrow donor. Although there was a very long road ahead Jamie was now cancer-free. They welcomed their beautiful and only child, Sophia in 2002, enjoying many Mets games together, concerts and trips to Florida to visit Jamie’s amazing parents Carol and Jim, and extended family trips to Ocean City. Jamie was diagnosed with COPD after the pandemic and needed oxygen to assist with breathing. The past 18 months he has been hospitalized at different times with illness related issues. He fought long and hard. He never once said why me or why us. Sophia moved home from Chicago when she attended art school and both her had Samantha have been working tirelessly to cover their high expenses. Please consider sending a gift card to help with groceries, a meal or anything Samantha and Sophia may need. We are asking for gift cards only instead of a home cooked meal due to SEVERE NUT ALLERGIES. I realize these is very difficult financial times for everyone, but I am asking you to consider even in the smallest measure a GIFT CARD TO STOP & SHOP, AMAZON, OR TARGET, which will tremendously ease their stress at this extremely difficult time. Thank you. Samantha’s email: JAYSBAR@aol.com
