Story
On September 23rd Josh started having some numbness in one of his legs and later that evening, he said it was hard to swallow. He finally went to the ER and they found that he had had a stroke. They sent him to Chattanooga CHI Memorial, where he had to have a feeding tube as well as be put on a ventilator due to not being able to swallow. At one point, he demanded to come off of life-support, but at the last minute… literally the last minute… he spoke that he did not want to die. The doctors quickly did a tracheotomy, and he was put back on the ventilator. He spent a month and a half in the ICU, and during that time, had four surgeries for a feeding tube as well as , catching sepsis! They slowly weaned him off of several pain medication such as fentanyl propofal and even ketamine. During his month and a half day in the ICU, they did other MRI’s and found he had several more strokes, possibly around nine total. A few short days before he was supposed to go to a nursing home rehab, they found he had two severe strokes, one affecting his frontal lobe. Since he was finally weaned off enough pain meds, he was moved to a nursing home rehabilitation center. He is still. He has very good days …where he appears to be alert and understand what is going on, but this is usually very short-lived and he goes back into his “own mind”. He becomes confused, agitated combative. He has been unable to do much physical therapy or occupational therapy due to this, no one knows if he will make a recovery mentally . Only God knows this 😭❤️ At this time, me and our four children are not receiving any of his short-term disability or his critical illness pay, as all that is being a huge issue due to us not being “legally married” and him not mentally competent to sign over any of his pay. Currently we have no income coming in from Josh anymore. I am now having to pay for daycare for our three-year-old daughter by myself as well as the entire mortgage, his car payment, his car insurance and his credit cards, as well as all of the utilities without help. I’m almost certain we will lose our home. I am currently asking for any assistance, whether it be meals or childcare assistance for me to make visits to go see him….as he is an hour and a half drive away and I go at least once a day ….gas cards, gift cards, even cards too places, such as Foodland to help buy food, as I do not qualify for any kind of assistance. I also have an Amazon wish list for basic household needs for all of us, including pull-ups for the baby and simple things such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, trash bags, any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you to all that have helped so far!! My Amazon list is located below along with my address if you would like to provide food/meals or gift cards. My Venmo and cashapp are also listed for any monetary donations, but as I’ve stated… there are so many other ways that will help and any way will be greatly appreciated!!
