Story
As most of you know, Caleb was born 10 weeks premature & was then diagnosed with Spastic (stiff muscles) Diplegic (lower half of body) Cerebral Palsy at age 2. Over the last few years we have been bringing him to the Spasticity Clinic through Children's Mercy Hospital. These clinics are where we get together with a team of doctors consisting of Neurologist, Neurosugeon, Orthopedic, & Rehabilitation Medicine to discuss medications, possible treatment plans, surgeries, do X-rays, gait labs, pain management, etc. A surgery called a Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy has been discussed since around age 6. The main goal of this surgery is to reduce spasticity in Caleb's legs so he can walk better & have less falls. Now the time is finally here & surgery is scheduled for April 3rd. Following surgery Caleb will be entering 6-8 weeks of intensive Physical Therapy at Children's Mercy to recover.
Special Notes
