Introduction: Hello, my name is Amber, and I’m reaching out during one of the most challenging times in my life. After years of hard work and dedication, I achieved a leadership position in my field, helping to create and open a program that benefits foster youth. This role was especially meaningful to me, as I’m a former foster youth myself. Being able to give back to the very same receiving home that supported me during my hardest times as a youth was a beautiful full-circle moment in my life. I’ve faced and overcome many challenges, growing up in foster care and building a life for myself without natural supports throughout my life. Resilience and my ability to work hard and push through has carried me through previous challenges, but this time is different. A sudden disability has taken away my ability to work and severely limited my physical functioning. I’m doing everything I can to secure resources for the future, but I desperately need help to maintain stability in the short term for myself and my two beautiful children. My Story: Until recently, I was thriving in my career, pursuing my Master's in Social Work, and providing a stable life for my family. I had dedicated my academic and professional career empowering, uplifting, and helping others. However, my sudden disability has left me unable to work, and we are now navigating significant changes in our daily lives. I am actively applying for disability and other benefits, and seeking more affordable housing. Unfortunately, these benefits can take weeks or even months to be approved, and in the meantime, my expenses continue to pile up. Why I Need Your Help: We are at risk of losing our home if I cannot cover upcoming rent and living expenses for the next few months. Rent is quickly approaching, and with my disability and no longer having the ability to work, I had no way to prepare. Your support will help us: Pay rent to avoid eviction.
