Crystal's Road to Recovery

Fort Worth, TX

Story

This is Crystal's story in her own words. She went in for a second spinal fusion and had some complications during the process. She is on her road to recovery and we are here to help!! We love you Crystal! God has great things in store for you and Marty ❤️ So just wanted to let you know that after surgery my blood pressure dropped, my hemoglobin was at 6.8. I had to receive two blood transfusions while I was there. Then the Hospitalist noticed that my cortisol levels were too low. I have an adrenal gland and thyroid deficiency. She started me on two steroids. My bp started to regulate and I was stable. I was diagnosed with Addisson's disease, another autoimmune condition and I have to see endocrinology, nephrology, and my rheumatologist. I will need to take three new meds to manage these conditions. After getting an echocardiogram to make sure no fluid was around the heart they discharged me. I'm finally home!!! Went in for back surgery, fell apart, and got put back together. I thank God for the wonderful doctors and nurses who took care of me during this week as well as my family and friends for checking up on me. Marty and Kane for holding down the fort and taking care of my babies. Even with all of this hardship I remain truly blessed!!! Please don't take your health for granted, we are not getting any younger and require a little more upkeep. That may mean seeing our doctor regularly, making better food choices, spending a little extra on supplements, or making time for a daily walk or exercise, but we owe it to ourselves to make these choices in our best interest and also the interest of those we love. Take care!
