Story
A Story of Strength, Hope, and Community: Supporting Bill Guertin in His Battle Against PTCL My neighbor and dear friend, Bill Guertin, is someone who has touched countless lives with his generosity, kindness, and unwavering support for others. A talented sales trainer, professional speaker, and beloved community member in Bourbonnais, IL, Bill has always gone above and beyond for the people in his life—whether through his work, his volunteer efforts, or his everyday acts of kindness. Now, Bill is facing one of the greatest challenges of his life. Recently, he was diagnosed with stage 3 Peripheral T-cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (PTCL), an aggressive form of cancer that requires intensive chemotherapy and radiation. While his spirit remains strong, the toll of this diagnosis has been heavy, both physically and financially. Bill’s doctors have warned that the treatments may affect his voice and energy levels for an extended period, making it difficult for him to work. Although his health insurance will cover some of his medical costs, Bill doesn’t have disability insurance, and the mounting expenses are creating a significant strain on his family. This is where we, his community, can step in to help. Bill has always been the person who shows up for others—now it’s our turn to show up for him. By contributing to this Give In Kind page, you’ll help Bill and his family cover essential needs during this journey. Whether it’s assisting with medical expenses, meals, transportation, or household support, your generosity will provide the cushion they need to focus on what matters most: Bill’s recovery. Here are a few ways you can make a difference: • Gift cards for meals or groceries to ease the stress of daily cooking and errands. • Gas cards or transportation assistance for trips to and from treatments at Rush. • Household support services like cleaning or lawn care to help keep things running smoothly. • Comfort items to brighten Bill’s spirits during long treatments. Bill’s journey is just beginning, and he has a tough road ahead. But with the love and support of his friends, neighbors, and community, I know he’ll find the strength to fight this battle and come out stronger. Let’s rally together to lift up the man who has spent his life lifting up others. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and contributions to Bill’s journey. With heartfelt gratitude, Bill's Neighbor Family
Special Notes
Friends, We're truly overwhelmed with your well wishes and support. This page was something new to us, and so we apologize for our late acknowledgement, and will keep you posted here as to our progress. As always, Jax, your geenerosity knows no bounds! This is Bill typing, but most often it will be Sherri giving the updates, as she does so well over FB. She's been at my side at Rush Hospital in Chicago for the better part of 40 days now; we got to come home for a few days over Christmas, but I developed severe dehydration and weakness, and was brought to the Rush ER on Christmas night. It's taken me several days, but I can now return to my recovery, which involves a brand new 5-day chemo regimen starting today. One thing for sure about cancer is that no two days seem to be the same, and you always have to be ready for change! Even though there will be some "battle days" coming, I'm looking forward to the progess that this new treatment will bring. I'll be here at Rush for the duration of these 5 treatments, and because of the challenges I've had, I'm not sure when I'll be home in the near future; Sherri will be popping in at home on occasion, however, to check on the pups; a BIG think you to Sue Ellen for maintaining a presence at our home during this chapter in our lives! #Neighbors Strong!
