Post-surgery support for Cynthia

Haiku, HI

Story

Cynthia (Mom) is two weeks out of a total knee replacement surgery! She is doing better each day but will be homebound likely the next month to fully recover. The surgery was on her right knee, which is on her driving leg which means even as she is recovering it may be about a month until she is able to drive herself. In the meantime, she has a few physical therapy and doctor appointments in December that will need rides to and from. I have to return to work in California in a few days and unfortunately won't be able to run errands, cook for her or take her to her upcoming appointments. She doesn't like to ask for help or inconvenience others so I made this page on her behalf as a away to reach out to the friends in her circle who want to help and may be able to step in and offer to give her a ride to one of her upcoming doctor appointments. Here are a few ways to help that would be greatly appreciated by both of us: 1. Rides to appointments (most needed at this time). No need to go in to the appt. with her, if you have stuff to do in town, you can drop her off and swing by in an hour to pick her up. 2. Grocery store run (Going to the store? Send her a text and see if she needs anything fresh from the store!) 3. Love to cook, or have some leftovers you wants to share? She may not always be up for a visit, feel free to drop off some food at her door. 4. A friendly hello via text or phone call to let her know you're thinking about her and she's doing great :) Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions. Thank you for being a wonderful, caring part of my mom's life. Please scroll down to the Care Calendar on this page and click "I'll help" next to one of her appointment dates if you are able to sign-up to giver her a ride on that date. Happy holidays and mahalo, Aja (Cynthia's daughter) Aja's cell: (424) 644-4473

Special Notes

No dietary restrictions but fresh fruits and vegetables are always nice to have since she can't get out on her own. She has graduated from her walker but is using her cane for stability as she walks about. Make sure she brings that with her if you're picking her up for a ride to the doctor.
