Story

On January 17th, Marc and Esther's 17-year-old son, Griffin was rushed to the ER with sudden pains in his abdomen. Marc was told that Griffin may have burst his appendix and the matter was urgent. Later a CT scan revealed that his appendix was fine, but an enormous tumor, 6 inches in diameter, was on his liver. Griffin was taken to Children's Hospital in LA where surgeons took a biopsy, as well as removed the giant tumor and half of his liver. Days later, biopsy results indicated that Griffin has a rare form of liver cancer, and that chemo would be needed. This page was created to come alongside the Elmers, as they support Griffin and adjust to this new development in their lives. It is a place where you can receive updates on how Griffin is doing, as well as offer ways to help. We also have a FaceBook page called “Team Elmer” and one of Griffin's friends has created a Discord page for Griffin. Welcome!

Chemo weeks are when we have the greatest need: #3 March 17-22 COMPLETE! #4 April 7-12 COMPLETE! #5 April 28- May 3 COMPLETE! #6 May 19-24 #7 June 9-14 <---- No longer needed!! Below you will find a calendar where you can sign up to bring a meal or help them with pet care. Please feel no pressure to sign up. We can handle food and duties. However, due to the emotional/mental weight of all of this and the fact that many of you are asking how you can help, we wanted to share with you ways that do make a difference. We wish the calendar was visually easier to access. Essentially we have sign ups for our chemo weeks where Esther and Griffin are at the hospital. However, if another time works better for you, we are more than happy for help. Thank you again for being on our team and simply helping us to not feel alone supporting Griffin as he goes through this. There are no allergies in the Elmer household. (If you have any questions, you can text Esther at (818)531-1453. If you reach out to us please give us 24-48 hours to respond as we get overwhelmed at times.)
