Ashley welcomes baby Ethan home after 283 days in the NICU/PICU!

Story

After 283 days in the hospital baby Ethan has been discharged from the NICU/PICU and is finally home! Ashley has been living in the hospital around the clock for the last 9 months. Baby Ethan was born early at 26 weeks, weighed 1lb 6.6 oz. Ashley and baby Ethan have fought hard to get him medically stable, so he can go home. Due to complex life sustaining medical needs, baby Ethan requires 24/7 at home medical care. Baby Ethan will require ongoing Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and pulmonology appointments. Ashely had to make choices, choices that have an impact on every aspect of her and baby Ethan’s life. Due to a continued shortage of home health nurses Ashley was left with no choice but to resign from her full-time job with San Bernardino County to care for baby Ethan. Ashley is doing everything she can to support her and Ethan. She will try to manage working part-time while also caring for baby Ethan full-time as a single mom. Ashley’s mom, Anita, from Washington state temporarily to be a second caregiver for baby Ethan. Being a single mom myself I know how hard it is to go it alone, but to have a baby with complex 24/7 medical needs in addition is even harder. Ashley is one of the kindest, most caring, giving, and hardest working humans I know. She put herself through college and grad school all while working a full-time night job, practicum and commuting two hours a day. Ashley is one of the strongest people I have ever seen, but even the strongest of us need support. I know she would never ask for help, so I am reaching out on her behalf to ask for your help. Please show Ashley she is not alone! If you are local to her in southern California, you can show support by signing up for her meal train. If you live outside the area, you can send a meal gift card, Walmart gift card or funds directly to Ashley via her PayPal account. If you come across this link and may not know Ashley, but want to help, any amount is appreciated.
