Story
Hi everyone, I wanted to share a bit about my journey and why I’ve created this page. On March 5, I’ll be undergoing a hysterectomy and clean-out due to endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, and cysts. These conditions have caused me significant pain for nearly two years, impacting my daily life and overall well-being. After much thought and consideration, I’ve decided to move forward with this surgery in hopes of improving my quality of life. The surgery will require me to take recovery leave for about two months as I navigate my healing and rehabilitation. During this time, I won’t be able to work or perform—two things that are both financially and emotionally significant to me (especially as a singer). While I know this is the right decision for my health, it’s still a difficult one. Recovering from this type of surgery comes with challenges, including potential hormonal imbalances, emotional changes, and physical limitations. At just 34 years old, this decision feels especially overwhelming, but I’m choosing to focus on the positive: the opportunity to live without chronic pain. I’m so grateful to have an incredible support network of people, and a caring community, and I’m leaning on that support to help me through this transition. This page is a way for those who want to help, to do so in meaningful ways. Whether it’s dropping off a meal, helping with cleaning or organizing, sending a gift, or simply sharing words of encouragement and binge worthy show recommendations, every gesture will make a world of difference. Thank you all for being part of my journey. Your love, kindness, and support means more than I can put into words. With your help, I’m confident that I’ll come through this stronger, healthier, and ready to embrace the next chapter of my life. Here is some detailed information: -Current planned surgery type-laparoscopic. If they find more going on, plans will change and more cutting will happen. -The surgery will take about 90min unless there are complications or they have to change tactics. -I’m having the surgery done in Gig Harbor and my surgeon is Irene Grias. She is excellent and comes highly recommended! I feel safe with her. -I will likely push for Pelvic Floor physical therapy when I’m done to get as much strength back as I can. -About 40% or women under 35 end up going into Menopause within 5 years after surgery due to ovarian failure, so I am preparing for that since I have a thyroid condition that makes balancing my hormones an issue already.
Special Notes
How You Can Help • Meals & Snacks: I’m focused on eating nutrient-packed foods to help my body heal. Meals rich in iron, antioxidants, healthy fats, protein, fiber, magnesium, potassium, and other essentials are key. Think dark leafy greens, proteins, probiotics, coconut water, and healthy carbs. (No fish/seafood, peanut butter, mushrooms, beets, liver, or blue cheese, please!) Dawn Gibson is putting together a meal train so people can coordinate or drop food off with her so she can bring it by. • Household Help: Keeping the house clean and organized will be challenging for my family while they’re juggling their own responsibilities. Any help with cleaning or tidying would be a huge relief. • Room Prep: I’m remodeling my spare room into a peaceful recovery space. If anyone is willing to help with painting, organizing, or decorating before the surgery, I’d be so grateful. • Visitors: After the first few days of recovery, I’d love some company! I’ll be down for a while and would really appreciate visits to help keep my spirits up. I’m happy to space them out to fit everyone’s schedules. Thank you all for being here for me. Your kindness and generosity are helping me feel less alone and more hopeful as I prepare for this journey. If you want to help out or plan to bring something by, without Dawns help, you can use the calendar on this website to plug in what day/time you are swinging by :).
