Story
Dear Friends and Supporters, We’re reaching out on behalf of our dear friend, Marisol, who is courageously facing breast cancer. Earlier this year, Marisol made the brave decision not to renew her teaching contract with Drexel University, choosing to prioritize her health and well-being while striving to serve her community more fully. However, just days before her departure, she received the unexpected diagnosis of stage IIa breast cancer. As you can imagine, this diagnosis changed everything. Over the past few months, Marisol has faced physical, emotional, and financial hurdles as she undergoes rigorous chemotherapy and prepares for a double mastectomy, breast radiation, immunotherapy and endocrine therapy to treat multiple synchronous masses found in both breasts. Synchronous Bilateral Breast Cancer is a rare form of cancer where masses in each breast are unrelated, found within the same diagnostic period, and have different hormonal make ups (i.e., Left=HER2-, HR+; Right=HER2+, HR+). Unfortunately, the aggressiveness of the treatment has taken a heavy toll on Marisol’s body, significantly impacting her ability to maintain a sustainable pace of life. Despite all of this, Marisol remains immensely positive and hopeful. Her unwavering strength and determination continue to shine through, even amid the demands of her treatment. Her loving family, partner, and loved ones stand by her side, offering support and strength through every step of the journey. However, the challenges, both physically and financially, are mounting, and it’s becoming more difficult for her to navigate this journey. That’s why we’re coming together to support Marisol during this critical time. We are raising $45,000 to help ease the financial burden of her medical and living expenses, giving her the peace of mind she deserves to focus fully on her health and healing. Every dollar will go directly toward covering the costs of her ongoing treatments, recovery, and living expenses. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, simply sharing this campaign or sending her words of encouragement would be deeply appreciated. Marisol has always been a beacon of love, kindness, and support to those around her. Now, it’s our turn to provide that same care and support for her. Let’s come together as a community to show Marisol her our support on this journey. Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
Special Notes
Due to the side effects of chemotherapy, Marisol is unfortunately unable to receive food at this time. While your generosity is deeply appreciated, we kindly ask that any contributions be in the form of financial support, prayers, or encouraging messages, as this will be the most helpful way to assist her during this period. Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and continued support. Your kindness means the world to Marisol as she navigates this challenging time.
