A/B Dissection. Frozen Elephant Trunk. Clam Shell. Get your attention?

Evansville, WY

Story

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1) Wondering what to do with those random gift cards sitting around that you won't or haven't used yet? Maybe you have cards that you can't use in Casper, but you CAN use in the bigger city. Prefer to send gift cards instead of money? We have an idea for you! Medical, travel, and living expenses add up when you are displaced for surgical care. Navigating what/where to eat, what to cook, buying necessary items can be daunting while taking care of your loved on their medical journey, let alone, just thinking about what to do… Jason and Malinda moved from Utah to Arizona to enjoy some quality boat and lake time and the fantastic weather that Arizona offers. Unfortunately, Jason's surgical/medical team is in SLC, Utah and they must travel for care. This year will be unexpectedly more complicated because he is schedule for 2 procedures, the 2nd which will require them to remain in SLC for approx 4-6 weeks during his hospital stay and recovery. Timeline Summary: -Oct 30, 2019, at 45 y/o, Jason's thoracic aorta dissected, and he had an emergency aorta repair, in a California hospital while there for work. 10 hours later, he spent weeks in ICU with interventions like ECMO, dialysis, blood transfusions, to name a few. -In Malinda's words, after weeks in ICU in California “Utah Air Med flew to CA in the fog, after being delayed for hours, to pick us up and bring Jason back to U of U Health after his Type A Aortic Dissection. I cannot explain the feeling of seeing them walk in and fly him "home". THANK YOU AIRMED!!! You changed his hospital course and healing process". ♥️♥️ -Jason has had multiple surgeries to reinforce his dissected and weakening aorta. This includes a stent placed over the abdominal dissection to support the aorta, a frozen elephant trunk procedure, injections into his paralyzed vocal cords, and an interventional procedure to graft a dilated portion of Jason's aorta, as well as a subclavian artery graft. -His journey now takes him into 2 additional procedures - the 1st, another stent placement to support more area of the dissected aorta. That is happening the 1st week in January. He will then return the 1st week in February for a clam shell procedure to remove the "false lumen" of the aorta that is increasing in size and has become unstable. This request is to support Jason’s journey and Malinda’s peace of mind while they navigate this new obstacle. Most importantly, please extend your prayers to the amazing medical team overseeing their care. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”. (Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV))

Special Notes
