Caring for the McAuley Family

Cape Girardeau, MO

Story

Let me tell you about our friend Ellen. Her spiritual gift is taking care of others. She is the first person to offer help whether it is just being a listening ear, offering physical assistance, providing food.... the list goes on and on. It is our turn to help Ellen and her family. On Christmas day, Ed fell in the bathroom. Ellen and Andrew went to his assistance and found that he was confused and unable to communicate. He was taken to a local hospital and then to a St. Louis hospital. It was determined that he had a clot in the brain and there was no way to safely remove the clot. He came home on hospice. He is very happy and comfortable at home, sleeping mostly, but shows a bright smile when awake. This is not the outcome anyone was expecting. Surgery was expected, a recovery period and healing, but that is not what happened. This family knows God and is aware of the promises of everlasting life. Although, this is such a difficult time, they are thankful for those promises! Thank you for showing Ellen that she and her family are loved! Scheduling meals, sending donations, posting messages of support, and and most of all please continue to lift them up in prayer.

Special Notes

Ellen enjoys cooking and has mentioned that she would like to continue to do that on occassion. On most nighst there will be 5 people eating. There are no restrictions but please try to avoid overly spicy foods. Visitors who have been sick or exposed please visit another time. You may want to call to check to see if visitors are ok.

Ellen, I cannot describe the impact you have had on my life. You are a sister to me in every sense of the word. God was good when He placed Ed in your life 🌟💖🌟 Ed is the only man who deserved you. No one else even came close 🤩 Hi Ed!!!! You are truly Ellen’s other half. Whatever Ellen was passionate about, so were you. I miss your Facebook page. I miss you both. If I could I would send you a thousand gum wrappers (appropriate length and width). We would make the longest gum wrapper necklace EVER. Watch game shows and sing to the radio and talk about our latest crushes🥳 All I could do for now was to send money. Preferably, I could wiggle my nose like Samantha on Bewitched. Then I could be there, oh how I wish I could be there 💔 I love you all, even more than Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy. Charlotte

- Thank you so much Charlotte!! We would be make a great gum chain and doing all those memories. I am praying that he is comfortable and it is quick. We had a good day yesterday before that he was mainly sleeping. I miss you my sister and love you as much as Bobby and David.

- Charlotte Butler It says you still love to cook. What about chipped beef on toast? I smile every time it comes across my memory. I can see and hear your dad calling it $&/# on a shingle 🤣
- Ellen McAuley You have been on my mind, love you all to the moon and back 💖

Ellen, I just saw this message this morning and I am so sorry. I wish I lived closer to help with meals but you and your family will always been in my thoughts and prayers. Ed is such a wonderful man. I remember so many times when I was a single mom and you and Ed would be there to lend a hand every time I needed something. And Ed always has a smile on his face! Take care and if there is anything I can do, please reach out. My love to all of you.
