Supporting the Schenck Family

Grand Rapids, MI

Story

About a week ago, my sister Erica was diagnosed with cancer. Even typing that word "cancer" makes my stomach twist in knots and takes my breath away. If you're here, you already know what kind of a friend, colleague, daughter, sister, wife and mother she is. She's probably done something extraordinary in your life - whether it be a kind word of affirmation, a plate of homemade sugar cookies or a thoughtful gift to let you know she's thinking of you. A few months ago, her health took a turn and her energy level plummeted. She pushed for answers, appointments and became a true self-advocate. As she prepares to undergo an intense and risky surgery next week, she needs our love, our hope and our strength. The recovery will be a long journey but she won't have to walk it alone. Thank you for anything you can contribute to make life a little easier for this beautiful family. A prayer, a message, a gift card, a meal...anything will be so very much appreciated. Much love, The Ellis, Holmgren & Schenck Families

Special Notes

"in the end, she became more than what she expected. she became the journey, and like all journeys, she did not end she just simply changed directions and kept going." r.m. drake

Erica, we are following your progress on this website. We have not stopped praying for you every day. We know that tomorrow is the day you get the pathology report, and are praying specifically for a clean report. Please don’t be afraid.. The Lord is with you…you are held in His hands. Former colleague of Jess, so sorry to hear of this unwanted and unexpected surprise. I read the original account of how this came to light and thought “I knew Jess was a smart, special person and her little sister us obviously incredibly strong and smart, too! Prayers for every bit of medical and Divine wisdom and care for the surgery and a complete, quick recovery.

When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high And don't be afraid of the dark At the end of a storm there's a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark ... You'll Never Walk Alone, Erica. God Bless you!
