Baby Bumpy's Arrival

Story

Hi there dear friends & family of Gib and Natalia ! 🎉 As you know, Baby Bumpy is on the way very soon! (edit: little Daniel arrived on Feb 10th!) Having homemade meals in those early weeks with a newborn is truly a lifesaver (I know this from experience! 😊). Natalia & Gib very kindly let me set up this meal train, so that friends and loved ones can be part of their village and help take care of them during this special time. If you’d like to contribute, feel free to cook a meal, bring a dish, or even offer a food delivery gift certificate if that’s easier! A bit of background on meal trains if you're curious: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/meal-train-heres-why-love-135302522.html The first meal was delivered Feb 16 and for now I've scheduled meals for about a month. If you have signed up, but something comes up that prevents you from being able to provide a meal on a particular day, don't stress. Please first let me know (and not the new family) if this is the case, and I'll try to coordinate a switch with another person. Finally, if food isn't your love language, don't worry - there will be plenty of other ways to help in the coming months (and years). No pressure! Hugs, Viki If you are not a chef but still want to participate, Natalia and Gib would also very much appreciate food delivery gift certificates. Uber Eats (https://www.uber.com/ch/fr/gift-cards/) Eat.ch (Just Eat Suisse) – https://www.just-eat.ch/fr/cartes-cadeaux/ Powermeals Geneva: https://powermeals.ch/fr/carte-cadeau-repas Smood: https://www.smood.ch/en/o/gift-cards Here are some tips from when I received a meal train: -I'm sure everyone will be very keen to meet the new arrival and talk to the parents, but your meal drop-off may *not* be the right moment. Take the lead from them; you might be asked to just place the meal in front of their door. If you are invited in (😲) then be brief, be helpful, and begone 😜. But don’t worry—they’ll coordinate visits and cozy meet-ups later with all of you once they’re all settled in. There will be plenty of beautiful moments to share together! ✨😊💕 -Bring your meal in disposable containers if possible. I know, I know, the environment, but not having to worry about cleaning and returning tupperware is one less stress for the new parents. -I really appreciated meals that would last a few days in the fridge or could be frozen; it was so unpredictable when we would get around to eating something. -Quantity quantity quantity - it takes a lot of energy to take care of a newborn so throw your regular idea of "portion sizes" out the window and don't hold back! -In my case I really craved hot, savory food (and meat...I know, I know, the environment); salads and cookies/cakes might be a nice bonus, but the recovering postpartum body has specific nutritional needs. Here are some articles: about specific post-partum nutrition needs: https://lilynicholsrdn.com/real-food-postpartum-recovery-meals/ soup recipes, specifically: https://lizwinterswellness.com/2023/10/nourishing-soup-recipes-for-postpartum-meal-prep/ not related to post-partum, very American: https://www.southernliving.com/food/dinner/meal-train-ideas Finally, I tried to talk her out of it but Natalia insisted: Once Natalia & Gib have settled in with Baby Bumpy, Natalia would love to offer a series of online relaxation & well-being Sophrology sessions as a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who contributed. It would bring her so much joy to share this special moment with you all. More details to come!🧘‍♀️✨
