Saponara-Adamson Support

Kesington, CA

Story

On December 26, 2024, Paul and his family learned that he has stage 4 bladder cancer that has spread to his spine, and that the condition is not survivable. On January 6, he began treatment with focused radiation to slow the cancer in his lower spine where is has caused compression fractures causing serious pain and drastically limiting his mobility. Treatment with IV infusions to boost immunity and attack the cancer begin on January 14th. With treatments Paul’s life expectancy is estimated to be three years or more. Paul and Gabrielle are very fortunate to have a many close friends, several of whom have volunteered their love and support. Some of these friendships extend back many years, as far as college. Some are based on recent experiences, beginning as collegial relationships. Our immediate family is small, the two of us and our son Graham, 24 as of December, but with our extended families and those who join the caring bridge, we feel the reassurance of a meaningful group of support.

Gabrielle and Paul - weekday drop-offs for dinners are harder from SF but I would like to help! I will text with thoughts about making a drop-off on a weekend. Think about you both often and happy to hear there is progress with the meds.

Thank you Paul and Gabrielle so much for the honor of being invited to your caring bridge. I deeply appreciate for friendship, kindness, warm smiles, laughs and the many beautiful moments we have shared. Please know that I am here for you. If there's anything you need, please don't hesitate to ask, even if it's just someone to listen. Meanwhile, I will think of what food I can bring to your home. Love, Michael

Paul, Gabrielle; this annoucement leaves me with shock and sadness. Life events usually impact not one person but everyone close. I wish you the best in treatment and the strength to face each day. Cancer treatments are known to be challenging. You are fortunate to have family and a tight group of friends there for you.
