Story
On December 26, 2024, Paul and his family learned that he has stage 4 bladder cancer that has spread to his spine, and that the condition is not survivable. On January 6, he began treatment with focused radiation to slow the cancer in his lower spine where is has caused compression fractures causing serious pain and drastically limiting his mobility. Treatment with IV infusions to boost immunity and attack the cancer begin on January 14th. With treatments Paul’s life expectancy is estimated to be three years or more. Paul and Gabrielle are very fortunate to have a many close friends, several of whom have volunteered their love and support. Some of these friendships extend back many years, as far as college. Some are based on recent experiences, beginning as collegial relationships. Our immediate family is small, the two of us and our son Graham, 24 as of December, but with our extended families and those who join the caring bridge, we feel the reassurance of a meaningful group of support.
