Story
On Sunday, March 30th, 5-year-old Abby was admitted to the children's hospital with pneumonia. She was initially diagnosed with respiratory failure and has been intubated to support her breathing. Over the past week, doctors have attempted to wean her off nitric oxide, but her oxygen levels drop each time, which remains a significant concern. While Abby has shown some improvement, she continues to be intubated as the medical team works to understand the underlying cause. Prior to her pneumonia diagnosis, Abby, along with her family and Joyce, had tested positive for HMPV (Human Metapneumovirus), a respiratory virus related to RSV. Abby has a twin sister, Addison, and a younger brother, Wesley. While Abby's parents, Amira and Will, have been staying with her at the hospital, Joyce has been recovering from HMPV herself while caring for Addison and Wesley at home.
