Support for Seana

McMinnville, OR

Story

Supporting Seana with Nourishing Meals During Recovery Our wonderful friend Seana recently had surgery to prepare for dialysis as she faces end-stage kidney failure. She’s been incredibly strong through this journey, and as she begins recovery, we want to help ease the daily stress of meal prep so she can focus fully on healing. We’re organizing this Meal Train to support her with home-cooked or delivered meals that meet her dietary needs. Because of her condition, Seana must follow a kidney-friendly diet. If you’re able to help, please provide LOW-SODIUM, LOW-POTASSIUM meals—this is essential for her health. Some general tips: Omit high-potassium ingredients like potatoes, tomatoes, bananas, avocados, spinach, and dairy. Go easy on salt—use herbs, lemon, or spices for flavor instead. Protein sources like chicken, turkey, eggs, and tofu are great. Grains like rice, pasta, and bread are usually okay in limited amounts. Low-er carb meals are preferred. Simple, fresh meals with whole ingredients are best! Watch out for PHOSPHATES- these are in so many prepared foods (broth/stock, canned items, pickled items, etc). Avoid foods with phosphate aditives. If cooking isn’t an option, gift cards for local restaurants with healthy choices or grocery delivery are also helpful. Local Restaurant options: Cyprus, Local Flow, Good Eats. Thank you so much for showing love and care to Seana during this time—every meal is truly a gift!
