Story

I am starting this page to open up an opportunity for continued support to Shar and Rhett and their girls. As probably all of you know, Shar was diagnosed, in November 2022, with Stage IV colorectal cancer. Shar has just returned home from a hospital stay for pneumonia. She is on oxygen and painkillers, but is so happy to be home. She hopes to restart chemo in a week or two, after further recovery On behalf of the family, I want to thank so so many for all support and love that you’ve shown. The text messages, phone calls and cards. The visits. The laughter. The meals. The care packages. Your gifts have brought love, life and normalcy. You have blessed this family. There was a time, when I was young, that I held back from suffering people, because I didn’t know what to say or do for someone in a really difficult situation. But so many of you have stepped into the breach, giving smiles and hugs and showing up for Shar, Rhett and the little girls. And it has made all the difference. I’m setting up this page for anyone who wants to continue to give practical support to Shar and Rhett. They have been blessed—in the past—by a different meal giving program, but I want to approach this time differently, I want to reach out to the personal contacts of both Rhett and Shar’s family. The people that know Shar or Rhett or know the extended families of the Postmas and the Rakhshanis. The other services are great, but they are aimed to help with short-term needs (i.e., parents with a new baby or someone recovering from COVID) Shar and Rhett are two years into their journey and I figure that our families’ personal contacts may want to get involved with this type of giving. This is a good time for me to say that many of you have already given so much in tangible ways. Others have given in intangible ways Around the world, many are praying. So please know that there is no expectation toward anyone. And for those who choose to participate, there is no expectation on how much and how often you wish to participate. So, if you want to jump into this, there will be multiple ways to give. If you are local to Shar and Rhett, a main dish (for supper/dinner) delivered to them would be great. No need for side dishes. Alternatively, if you are outside of the US or prefer gift cards, I am going to set up a button for Rhett and Shar’s Amazon wishlist, which will include different gift card choices and can be accessed internationally (or so this service has told me 🤞). I like to cook and plan to continue to do so. But having some dinner meals covered will enable the extended family to help with other needs, (like taking the girls to their afternoon sports or dancing activities, for example). Thank you all and God Bless You all 💞 Love and Blessings, from the Rakhshani and Postma families

Special Notes

Dietary restrictions: prefer no sugar or corn syrup in recipes, simple casserole and meals are probably the best because of the, shall we say, limited palates of the three little children Visiting restrictions: At this time, the situation changes daily and it will be appreciated if you put your meal in the cooler by the door. Please send it in a disposable container. The children usually eat early, at 5:00 or 5:30, but it’s not a disaster if the meal shows up a little later.
