Directly from Cathleen (Erica’s Mom): “ Short story to catch everyone up on why this group was created. All updated will be put here. I can't keep track of the messages on my phone. Erica got a kidney stone two weeks ago. They sent her home with pain killer to pass the stone. That Friday she when to get checked and the kidney stone had move to just before the bladder. During this first week she did not feel well and had on and off fevers. They said she was well and her symptoms were normal. They schedule to blast the stone on Thursday if she didn't pass it. Symptoms did not improve, but she was told again that it was normal. She went went to have the stone blasted (still not feeling well). When she arrived her fever spiked to 103 and she started having trouble breathing. She was rush to the hospital. She was diagnosed with an infection from the stone backing up fluid and was septic. She was put on a ventilator and a stent was put in to bypass the stone. Friday she went into acute respiratory failure and also had to be put on an ECMO machine (like dialysis but adds oxygen to her blood). Although she has not gotten worse, she is not improving. They have been working to increase her oxygen levels. Please pray for her.”
