Story
Our sweet boy, Jordy Jamie Watters, made an early arrival via emergency c-section on March 11, 2025, at 33 weeks pregnant. He was diagnosed with bilateral kidney dysplasia at our 20-week anatomy scan ultrasound. We spent the following weeks working closely with our MFM specialist, Dr. Jacobs, to prepare us for what to expect at birth and beyond. After meeting with a pediatric nephrologist and neonatologist, we understood that Jordy would likely have a long road ahead, involving dialysis with an eventual kidney transplant when he has grown to a specific weight. We were informed that his lung development and function would be questionable at birth due to the lack of amniotic fluid around him (the kidneys were non-functioning and not cycling the fluid, so I progressively lost fluid over the weeks). Our goal was to carry Jordy to 37 weeks to allow for as much growth and development as possible, but God had different plans for Jordy. My whole family and Ben’s parents attended church with us on Sunday 3/9, where our family, Pastor Drew and the prayer team prayed over Jordy in the womb. Later that evening I started having contractions. Things progressed quickly over the span of a couple days and on Tuesday, 3/11, we met our baby boy. Jordy is in the care of an amazing NICU team that has been managing the various health concerns associated with his preterm birth and kidney disease. As anticipated, his lungs are a major concern and will need time to grow and develop. The dysfunction with his lungs has resulted in pulmonary hypertension with his heart, which has also been a major factor in his care decisions. Kidney-wise, Jordy underwent a procedure to have ports inserted for dialysis and is currently doing what is called hemodialysis, which locally is only available at the hospital he is at. There are many moving parts with all of his bodily systems, but we have been relying on our faith and trust in the Lord for our miracle boy. We feel so blessed to live in a city that has such competent, comprehensive care and continue to pray hard for miracles with Jordy’s health. We have moved into a period of balancing our time at home with Benjo and trying to be at the NICU as much as possible with Jordy. We are extremely grateful for all of the love, prayers, support and generous gifts given by our family, friends and church. We will do our best to keep you updated with Jordy’s journey ahead. "Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you tell this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done. And if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”" -Matthew 21:21-22
