May 28th, 2024 our world turned upside. Philip, aka Beast, went to the hospital thinking he had pneumonia. Turns out he is in late stage heart failure. Apparently he had a heart attack a few years ago and didn’t know about it. Because it wasn’t treated, his heart has remolded and only pumps at 10%. Add to that he was a 30+ year smoker and his heart is in bad shape. The only real chance he has to extended his life is to get a heart transplant. Currently he is wearing a Zoll Life Vest (basically a portable defibrillator) and had plural catheters in each lung so we can drain his lungs every 3 days at home so he can breathe. Because of this, he is not able to drive right now. He also has to wait until he is 6 months smoke free before even getting on the list, so we are looking at this happening around the holidays. Then we wait until we get the call that he is getting a heart. He has also been determined to be disabled, which means he can’t work right now. As you can imagine-this has completely rocked us. Thankfully I am off for the summer, but I go back to school in August. In addition, Philip can no longer take care of Catherine while I’m at school so we are having to put her in a daycare. This breaks both of our hearts because he loved taking care of her. He would love visitors to come by for a visit. We love each other, but a fresh face would help his spirits. If you want to come see Catherine or watch her for a bit so I can get a break, that would be helpful. We need prayers/good juju sent our way please.
