Supporting the Vollands

Jacksonville, FL

Story

The Volland family is facing an incredibly difficult season, and they could really use the love and support of their community right now. Ashley and Kenny are parents navigating an unthinkable series of challenges. Ashley is working tirelessly to care for their children, all while supporting her own mom, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. Kenny is doing his best to balance work and home life, trying to hold everything together as the family faces a whirlwind of medical treatments and appointments. Their oldest son, Jackson, had surgery just last week. Though he’s recovering well, it’s still been a challenging time. But the news this week was even harder. Their daughter, Gianna, was diagnosed with cancer. The diagnosis is aggressive, and she faces an intense treatment schedule ahead—chemotherapy, surgery, and more chemo. There are endless appointments, hospital visits, and logistical challenges, not to mention the emotional toll this takes on everyone in the family. Gianna is brave, but the weight of her illness has been heavy for all of them. Their youngest daughter, Dahlia, is also navigating these changes, trying to make sense of it all. The stress of daily life, juggling medical treatments, and supporting one another is taking its toll on the whole family. This is where the community can make a huge difference. The Vollands need the kind of support that goes beyond words—practical help, kindness, and a sense of togetherness. Ways to help include: • Meals: Providing a home-cooked meal or arranging a meal delivery to ease the burden of daily cooking. • Playdates: Offering a fun, safe space for Dahlia to play and be a kid, while Ashley and Kenny focus on Gianna’s treatments. • Groceries: Helping with grocery shopping or delivering gift cards so the family can focus on other things. • Rides to Appointments/School: Assisting with transportation for Dahlia school pickups. • Gift Cards or Venmo: Financial support for unexpected medical expenses or daily needs. • Kind Texts or Cards: A simple note of encouragement to let the Vollands know they are loved and supported. This is a time when every little gesture matters—whether it’s a meal dropped off, a kind word, or helping out with the kids. The Vollands are a strong, loving family, but they could really use a hand right now as they face these challenges together. Let’s show them that they are not alone.
