Story
Brian's life took an unexpected turn in September 2024 when he was diagnosed with cancer. The news came as a shock since there had been no prior symptoms. His treatment plan included seven weeks of chemotherapy, administered once a week, and 35 radiation sessions. While Brian tolerated the chemotherapy without severe issues, the radiation therapy brought severe side effects. The radiation treatments caused painful sores in his mouth and throat, along with swelling of his tongue and throat, making it extremely difficult for him to eat or drink. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, Brian's condition worsened, and he was admitted to the ICU. Thankfully, he was discharged on Monday evening and was able to complete his final chemotherapy session on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. However, the challenges continued. On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Brian required a feeding tube insertion and remained in the hospital until Tuesday. Throughout this difficult period, I have been fortunate enough to work from home, allowing me to assist with his care, including managing his feeding and medication schedule. Before his ICU admission, Brian was able to continue working, but his health now requires him to be off work and more attention and care. As you can imagine, this situation has made it challenging to manage daily tasks that Brian handled and managing a household. Your support and understanding during this time are deeply appreciated.
