Story
A few days before Christmas our sweet and smiley Kollins was hit hard with RSV, leading to an admission to the Sinai PICU. RSV is a nasty virus, but Kolly was making small improvements each day fighting off this terrible bug. Unfortunately, Kolly had to wait for his first visit from Santa from the ICU. Throughout his stay at Sinai, his blood pressure continued to be elevated. Sinai explored many possible reasons as to why this could be happening, however due to needing more resources and testing Kolly was transferred to John’s Hopkins Picu. Since his arrival to Hopkins, and after a few more tests, the culprit of the high blood pressure was solved and he was diagnosed with renal artery stenosis. In the next few days, Katy, Kyle and Kolly will meet with cardiologist and nephrologist to determine next steps! In the meantime Kolly continues to get better respiratory wise; as his oxygen has been discontinued, he’s up in bed playing with toys, and more interested in taking bottles! Katy and Kyle have lived in Kollys hospital room since last Saturday, missing all of the firsts with him this holiday season. As much as everyone wants to get home, sleep in their own beds, snuggle around there Christmas tree, and have a home cooked meal it isn’t in the cards for them quite yet! We are setting this up in hopes to brighten their days with something other then hospital food, help with gas/parking costs, and other expenses they might come across. Thank you so much! Special Notes
They aren’t taking visitors due to Kolly being sick in a PICU unit with lots of other very sick children! Facetime and pictures are wonderful! Smiles are always welcome and appreciated! They are also trying to spend as much quality time with Kolly right now by his side and not on their phones. They have been overwhelmed with texts, calls and emails to answer, but they can wait! Please be patient with them… Right now it’s about making this sweet boy feel safe, loved and reassuring him that he is in the best place and will receive the best care! 💕
