Meal Train for Dave and Jean Reed

BARNESVILLE, OH

Story

Jean was recently diagnosed with Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma, a type of cancer in the lymph nodes that causes chest pain, coughing, trouble breathing, fatigue, and swollen lymph nodes. She will start a round of six chemotherapy treatments, one every three weeks. We are expecting this to end in or around the middle of February. Dave has also been struggling with some health issues, which are still being investigated. As anyone who knows them is aware, Jean cooks daily for herself and Dave. They have never been a couple who goes to restaurants (except the Saturday night treat), orders takeout, or uses convenience meals. This will be a big change in their life, though hopefully temporary. As family members, we will be signing up to help as well, and we would appreciate any support we could have in terms of taking meals to Dave and Jean during this time. I've put together this page to make it easy and convenient, so that we avoid duplications, or more than one person bringing a meal per day- so that their freezer space (which is at a premium) doesn't get overwhelmed. Since I know how busy everyone is, especially this time of year- I've also listed some gift card options, because those long Chemo days can last up to 8 hours.....I'm sure that Jean and her caregiver would appreciate some takeout, doordash, or ubereats during this time. Maybe if she's feeling well enough, they could even stop for breakfast or dinner. While some of these can't be used in Barnesville, they can be used in Zanesville on Chemo days. We can also arrange for a family member to bring them takeout if that's an easier choice for you, and we'll take the day off the calendar. Please ,by no means, consider this an obligation. We know all how hard it is in this economy and with our already busy schedules. A card or a phone call is just as appreciated as anything else you choose to do! We appreciate anything you can do to help, though there is never any obligation to sign up! Thank you so much in advance for your kindness to Jean and Dave through the years and now. We are blessed.

Special Notes

Jean loves phone calls and cards! If you visit, Please consider masking when entering her space while she is going through Chemo, and please do not visit if you are sick, even with a minor cold. Her voice is weak and she is having trouble breathing, so she may keep conversations short. Thank you so much for your support!
