Story
2023 brought big change for Monica and her family. For one, they added a member in April, welcoming Amos into the world. Then in November, they bought a truly lovely house with Monica's mom and step dad, so that they could all be together. (Multigenerational house holds are the wave of the future! :D ) And just as everyone was settling in to all the change and joy and happiness, 2024 came along and decided to cause all sorts of chaos. First, Monica had to make the impossible decision to say good-bye to her long-time, beloved job that was filled with some of her favorite people and was such a big support system for her. This was a devastating loss. Luckily, she has a found a new home (obviously everyone fought for her experience and greatness) and that position started mid-may. But, days after leaving her old job, she got diagnosed with stage zero breast cancer. While everyone can sigh in relief that the stage is "zero", it is not without incredible physical and emotional impact and a lot of additional change and chaos. On June 18th, Monica will undergo a double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction. It is likely that recovery (including a lift restriction) will take about six weeks, but she will definitely be in bed resting for at least two. So, while her family is focused on Ayla (who turns 4 in June) and Amos (who turned 1 in April), Monica's healing, and care of all the 10000 other things that come with being a human and taking care of other humans -- it seems like a good idea to let her other support networks help out on some of the other things! This is where all of us and this page come in! We can work together to build a meal train and help support Monica and her family in other ways, as she sets about the important work of healing. Thank you all so much for loving Monica and her family and for being willing to support in any number of ways, including sharing her story with other folks who would like to help support her.
