Our family's worst nightmare has become a reality. On 12/4/24 Megan went to the ER for shortness of breath. The doctors found a large mass pushing on her lungs and heart. Megan was then admitted to the hospital. While performing tests on the mass, they found that Megan is also in heart failure. The heart failure is not related to the mass but instead a separate and serious issue. Since her heart failure diagnoses, she moved from oncology to telemetry and then again to the ICU. They are working hard at stabilizing her heart. 12/10/24 the doctors came back with biopsy results from the mass and has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. They are now performing further tests to determine what stage her cancer is. Balancing her fight against this cancer and her heart failure will be a very delicate and complicated process. Megan is so strong and can do this! Megan and her family will need help from her community through this process. She will be out of work for the foreseeable future and John will have to step back from his work while he is there for Megan. John is balancing being at the hospital to support Megan and being home to take care of Kody. Let's come together and help Megan, John, and Kody get through this.
