Story
Greg had triple bypass surgery on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Since then he has struggled with ICU delirium, an allergy to Heparin which lead to lots of little blood clots forming, and then bypass surgery on the main artery in both legs. Then he had two bouts of pneumonia. He is having trouble walking but is getting stronger every day! He has been in the hospital since Oct 12 and Suzy needs some help taking care of him. Greg loves visitors and will talk your ear off!
Special Notes
Hello! If you are interested in and available to visit Greg, we put together a schedule and some information. The doctors are focused on getting Greg eating normally and walking again. We’ve found that he eats better when he’s eating with us and eating food from outside the hospital. We are hoping that close friends and family can sign up to bring Greg a meal and eat with him. Food guidelines: they are focused on calories so heart health isn’t the most important right now. We care more about getting him to eat, so you can bring foods we know Greg likes, including meatballs, chicken parmesan, soft tacos (beef + cheese), breakfast sandwiches, barbecue. If you’re not sure, you can text Suzy to ask! Please bring softer foods that are easier to chew. Eating guidelines: Greg has lost some swallowing ability so ensure that he is sitting upright, focused on chewing, and not talking while eating. Mental status: Greg has suffered from ICU delirium from prolonged stay in the hospital. He may be confused. Please try to orient him, remind him where he is, and be supportive and patient. Hospital information: Greg is at VHC Health. (1701 N George Mason Dr, Arlington, VA 22205). Parking is best in Zone A garage. He is currently in the cardiac ICU, room 9. We will text should anything change in the coming days and weeks. Thank you for your support!
