Story
In January, Austin and I learned of a 2.5-month-old, sweet baby named David who needed a temporary foster-style placement. Fostering was never on our radar, but when the need was presented to us, my heart instantly felt called to take care of this baby and welcome him into our home. David joined us on Thursday, Jan. 30, through Bethany Christian Services Safe Families for Children Program. David will be with us for all of February and possibly through March and will spend weekends with his dad when work allows. Our family is blessed to be able to care for baby David for the next month or so, and we've approached this new chapter very prayerfully. However, we recognize our limitations and have been given permission to ask for additional childcare help. Austin works busy hours at the hospital, and I still work full-time for the Archdiocese of Detroit; however, my schedule is more flexible, and I am usually able to work and care for David simultaneously. We are creating this calendar so that people can sign up to care for sweet David and work it into their own schedule. We will indicate if there are specific days or times when our need is greater, but we are grateful for whatever help you can offer, and we will build our schedules around what people can give. Please note that we are unable to pay for baby David's childcare at this time. We are volunteers ourselves, and unlike a typical foster placement, we do not receive any monetary assistance. David is a sweet, snuggly (now) 3-month-old. He loves contact naps, the ceiling fan and watching our three-year-old Xavier do or say anything. Thank you for helping us love on this sweet baby -- we fell in love with him the moment we first saw him, and we know you will too. If you would like to help out but are unable to provide childcare, we would also be grateful for meals and, of course, your prayers!
