Melanie was diagnosed with breast cancer on 2/20 and is scheduled for a double mastectomy with Diep flap surgery on 4/4. We are sending this out to all her friends and family to help her, Mark, Ian and Elise get through this very difficult time. ***It has now been 8months since her initial surgery. During chemo she encountered healing complications and multiple blood clots. She had to have 2 additional abdominal surgeries, a thrombectomy in the right atrium and a blood transfusion. Her oncologist decided to stop chemo since it had become life threatening. While in the hospital with her pulmonary embolisms she developed a hernia. She had to complete her radiation before having that surgery. Radiation went well and she was able to have her hernia repaired and ovaries removed on 12/23. She now has about 8more weeks of recovery. As most of you know Melanie will be out of work with no pay for at least 3 months. This site as well as all the love and support for Melanie and her family will help them get through the next several months. There are many ways to help through this site which include donating meals, groceries, gift card for restaurants and/or stores. For example, Walmart gift cards will be used for grocery delivery for the family and food delivery cards will be used to assist at meal time.
