Story
My cancer was discovered when I went to the ER on 10/16/2024 for pain in my upper right abdomen. I thought it was my gallbladder saying it was time to get it removed. After an xray, ultrasound, and CT scans, they discovered my liver contains an innumerable amount of tumors. They ran blood tests to look for cancer markers and those came back positive as well. Two days later, a liver biopsy was performed. Four days after that, I received the results. I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer, which has metastasized to my liver. Further testing with a colonoscopy, endoscopy, and PET scan confirmed the location of the tumor in my colon, and confirmed that currently cancer cells are only in that tumor and my liver. Currently, the treatment plan is chemo every 2 weeks for 6 months, but this may change as my doctors see fit. I don't believe this will be the end of my treatment. While the future is unknown, I’m not done living and will be fighting this the best I can. So many friends and family members have asked me to let them know if there is anything they can do. I found Give InKind and will be giving it a try, sort of like a hub to post updates and say what I need. I will be asking for items/groceries that we need for me, as well as my family Layfe (husband) and Zizah (stepdaughter). Sometimes I may need transportation to/from an appointment, which I will post on the calendar. Layfe and Zizah have been very supportive and I love them with all my heart. I know they also need support while going through this journey with me.
Special Notes
I'm trying to avoid a lot of processed sugars, soda, and fruit juices. Some fresh pressed fruit juices are okay. If you would like to help out, please let me know how you'd like to help. I may post requests for some food items or other small items I will need. Feel free to ask any questions!
