Spine surgery for Andrea

Colorado Springs, CO

Story

Well, I guess you’re wondering how I ended up here…. For years, I’ve suffered with back problems that always just thought was getting older. Did a lot of stupid things in my life- maybe it’s catching up. Started a new position in May and thought my feet and back were hurting because of working a lot. Running a lot. Then, I thought, maybe it’s just my feet. Surely, if I get the right inserts and wear the perfect compression socks, it will go away. For months, I would work and still have the back pain and foot pain. Come November 13th, I was working and just bent over to pick up trash in the floor. When I went down, it felt like someone had stabbed me in the spine and I couldn’t breathe. Saw stars. Couldn’t really move. I went to the ER with a dear friend/coworker, and figured they would tell me nothing is wrong, take these muscle relaxers, you’ll be fine. Quickly turned into me staying for several days and finally having an answer though. I have Baastrup’s disease or commonly known as kissing disease. It’s left be debilitated and haven’t been able to work in the OR since. I’ve gone to PT 2-3 times a week, doctor’s appointments, X-rays, all of it. It’s been decided to have surgery to correct it and hopefully get back to LIVING. I will be out another 7 weeks- hopeful that I can return to helping people in the OR. I miss my job. I miss my people. I miss helping patients. I miss being tested everyday with my critical thinking skills. Surgery is scheduled for this Friday, the 3rd, in the morning. I appreciate everyone that has called, text, come over to hang with me, pray with me. Our family can’t thank you enough for being there.
