Bending Over Backwards (So Deff Doesn’t Have To)

Omaha, NE

Story

Our incredible co-worker and friend, Deffanie, is preparing to undergo spine surgery on 4/18 and will be in a neck brace for six weeks during her recovery. As you can imagine, this kind of healing process is no small thing—it’s physically demanding, exhausting, and comes with a host of daily limitations. To help lighten the load, we’re putting together a meal train to make sure Deffanie and her family are supported with nourishment, care, and community while she focuses on healing. Meal support is especially appreciated during the first three weeks post-surgery, but any and all help throughout the six weeks is welcome. Every meal and gesture of kindness helps—and means more than you know. Let’s rally around Deffanie and show her some love, one meal at a time! Feel free to text, but Deffanie will not be able to receive visitors or speak for a week or so after surgery!

Special Notes

Deffanie will be on a liquid diet for the first week and will transition to soft foods after that. No fish, please! She cannot have anything made with cream cheese, heavy cream, or fatty meats. She also has an elementary-aged son who would love a few kid-friendly snacks! Favorites are: Panera, Chic Fil A, PepperJax, Culver's
