Story
As you all may know, Beth was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of this year, 2024. Thankfully, it was caught early, and she was diagnosed with DCIS, Ductal Carcinoma in Situ, the best of the best of breast cancers. Beth did not have to have radiation or chemotherapy, thankfully. She had a lumpectomy in late February, and the known cancer was removed. Now, for the next step, she will have a double mastectomy with reconstruction on April 22nd. She's chosen to have a DIEP flap reconstruction, using her own tissue to reconstruct her breast tissue. It's major surgery, typically lasting 9 hrs. She will have a long, hard recovery, but we all know she can do this! Beth will be out of work for six weeks, as she recovers. We are very grateful for all of your support for Beth and her kids.
Special Notes
During this time, the two things that Beth will find most helpful are not having to worry about dinner for her family and spending time with friends. She welcomes home-cooked meals, take-out from a restaurant, or gift cards the kids can use to pick up dinner. The kids don't do fish. So, no fish dishes, please. Otherwise, her family will welcome anything. Some of their favorite restaurants/types of food are Chipotle, Gusto, Indian (Cafe Bombay), Pizza, Shake Shack, and Firehouse Subs. There will be a cooler by the garage doors to leave the food in. Beth's address is 1403 Sheridan Rd, Atlanta, GA 30324. In addition to dinner, you can sign-up to be Beth's buddy for a few hours. Beth will need social support during this process! Taylor is very concerned that her mom will not do well by herself for 6 weeks, so let's keep Beth busy and prove Taylor wrong. Being Beth's buddy can be anything: going for a walk, going to Publix, helping with laundry, watching a show, or telling her a joke. And if you aren't in the Atlanta area, you can sign up for a phone call or Zoom date with Beth during one of the Beth's Buddy time. I know Beth will appreciate anything and everything! If you cannot fulfill your obligation, please "uncheck" it on this page. No worries at all. Thank you so much in advance.
