Helping the Hanson's

Story

I’m reaching out today to ask with a heartfelt request for your support for a wonderful friend and her precious two year old son, Maverick. On December 12th Maverick had his first seizure. It quickly went into his second, third, and so many more they lost count. He was sent by ambulance to Children’s in Little Rock from ACNW for a neurology consult. He was given loading doses (max doses) of seizure medication to stop seizures with no improvement. After a few days they went home and within the first 12 hours he has his “max amount of seizures in an hour” to consider it a medical emergency, so back to Children’s NW they went. This time he was more out of it and staying asleep longer and longer. They were set for angel flight to take them back to Little Rock the next morning where Maverick started having up to 60 seizures a day. He and his mother have been in Little Rock for almost two months now, away from his big sister, as they seek answers and care. They have been through too many “pokes” to count, multiple EEGs, CT scans, MRI, genetic testing, MEG scan, G-tube surgery, NG trial tube, PICC line, and in the past few weeks Maverick underwent brain surgery. An incredibly challenging experience for both him and his mother, and something no two year old should ever have to go through. Over the past year, his mother has faced so many challenges. She has shown immense strength and courage, not only in seeking the best care for her children but also in making the extremely difficult choice to escape a situation that was not good for them. And it breaks my heart to see her family struggling again, especially with Maverick's health issues. Now, more than ever, they need our support. Through all of this time, she put life on hold at home as she was there by his side everyday. Bills have came in, money has drained out, credit cards have been maxed, jobs have filled her position, and life has still gone on. They have many doctors appointments, daily meds, a new car (hers was totaled on the way to visit her son) and so much more to find the funds for on top of the basics like rent, water, gas, electricity, and food. For example, the milk that she has in the fridge has an expiration date for Dec 18. Groceries, meal deliveries (homemade and restaurants), gift cards, monetary donations, and even donations of your time helping with whatever she needs, are all wonderful ways to help out and greatly appreciated during this time of need. Thank you for your kindness and support! 💖🙌🏽🫶🏼
