Love for Liz

Oceanside, CA

Story

Elizabeth “Liz” Hope Laughton earned her angel wings on the 7th of December 2024, at the age of fifteen (15) after bravely battling an illness for the past fourteen (14) months. She was a sophomore in high school at Mission Vista but more recently homeschooling with Pacific Coast Academy (PCA). Liz was born in Oceanside, California on the 2nd of June 2009. She is survived by her loving Mother, Monica Wynn (Stepdad Nicholas Beagle), her Father, Thomas Laughton, and her older Sister, Kylie Wilcox. Liz had a beautiful spirit and love for animals. She often wanted to rescue and bring them all home so she could love them as much as they could handle. Liz had a deep appreciation for music, especially lyrics. She loved playing the guitar and learning how to play her favorite songs. She loved Broadway musicals as well. Liz could find beauty in the most unexpected places. There was never a time that she was not painting or creating the most unique art. Liz was an avid reader, if you could not find her, she would often be up in her room listening to her favorite tunes curled up with a great book. She loved creative writing; her stories transformed you into the most unique places with such detail you felt like you were in the part of the story. She also was a lover of all things film and was determined to go to the LA film school after high school. She was so smart and could read people well. She was always her genuine self and was never afraid to tell you what was on her mind. She loved her friends so much; they were her tribe. They brought her such joy. Liz was not an openly affectionate person but giving was Liz’s love language. She always wanted to make sure everyone knew she was thinking about them all the time. During her darkest days battling bravely, she was uniquely herself, never losing her smile or spirit. Even when she was confined to a hospital bed, she would create new stories in her journal, watch movies marathons with the family or snuggle with her Mia (newest family member and rescue). Although her life was suddenly cut short, Liz’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her and always be with us forever in our hearts.
