Story
John was diagnosed with a benign vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma) after experiencing months of tinnitus and hearing loss in his left ear. The tumor, located near the brainstem and affecting his hearing and balance, required surgical removal, which took place on February 26th at OSU Wexner Medical Center. While the surgery was successful, preserving his 40% remaining hearing is still uncertain, and time will tell how much can be maintained. Through it all, John has stayed optimistic and resilient, leaning on the support of friends and family. In true John fashion, he even named the tumor “Bobby Jo”—but Bobby Jo had to go! Now, his focus is on rest and recovery, as he may experience temporary balance and facial weakness in the coming weeks. Many have asked how they can help, so we’ve set up this Give In Kind page to help with meals, groceries, or small acts of support while John focuses on healing. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to him—and we know he can’t wait to get back to pickleball and daily life soon! Thank you for being part of John’s journey! 💚
