Shelter Volunteers

Charles Town, WV

Story

We are a year-round, 24/7/365 emergency shelter dedicated to providing safe housing, meals, and supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to offer a compassionate, stable environment where clients can access the resources, they need to rebuild their lives. This shelter offers individuals the opportunity to stay for longer periods—30, 60, 90 days, or however long they need to find permanent housing. During their stay, guests will have access to comprehensive support services, including case management, employment resources, and health services. Instead of just a place to sleep, the emergency shelter acts as an entry point for people to access the help they need to get back on their feet.

Special Notes

How You Can Help: We are seeking volunteers to assist our staff in day-to-day operations. By volunteering, you’ll play a vital role in helping us run the shelter smoothly and ensure our clients feel safe and supported. Opportunities include: helping with meal preparation and serving, organizing donations and supplies, assisting clients with basic needs, and offering general support to staff and clients. We are temporarily working out of two locations, 8am to 7pm at JCCM (our main location). And 7p to 8am at Charles Town Presbyterian Church, address 220 E. Washington St. Please sign up for a shift or contact us for more information. Together, we can create a safe and supportive space for those in need. Thank you for your generosity!
