Nick and Cassie have had quite a wild ride the last 6 months. In late September, Nick was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He had the tumor removed in the beginning of October before they welcomed sweet Maisie at the end of October. Since then, he's had scans and blood tests, under the direction of his cancer specialist here in Hastings. The last scan showed some lymph nodes that had grown so his cancer specialist here referred him to Indiana University for a surgical procedure for lymph node removal in early March. Nick always goes above and beyond, and his cancer diagnosis is no different as his doctor there said his case is complex. Not only does he have the cancer specialist but also a “tumor board” reviewing his case to determine the best treatment course. Nick will begin chemotherapy mid-April, undergoing 4 intensive rounds of chemo (2- outpatient in Grand Island and 2-inpatient in Omaha.) He will have 3 weeks off between cycles to recover. Now that Nick is back in Hastings and recovering (off work), this page will be a place for visitor “T-time” reservation, gift card giving or just extra help where you are so gifted to provide. Check the calendar for a time to visit Nick, donate a gift card, or leave some encouragement for the long hard days ahead. To know Nick is to love him, a guy who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice, who would show up to help after pouring concrete on a 100 degree day and just the biggest hearted friend any person could ask for.
