Story
On Friday, October 25th I was riding an electric scooter and was hit by a car who was crossing a protected bike lane to enter the interstate. This first car merely knocked me over so I scrambled to gather my belongings, and kept going on adrenaline. Within a block, a different car was revving its engine and swerving at me. I was knocked into a curb, my leg wrapped around the scooter, and I was pinned under the scooter with all my belongings just out of reach. After a week in the hospital, two surgeries, many pins screwed into the bones, occupational and physical therapies, I am being released back home. As I am recently unemployed and uninsured, I need to lean on my community to fill in some gaps of care, and to send some warm fuzzies my way š„°
Special Notes
I have no food restrictions, but I do lean more pescatarian (just no land meats), and will need protein-forward foods for the healing process. I will also need some medical equipment- a tub transfer bench, specialty boots, crutches, walker; whatever PT recommends. We plan to work with local nonprofits for donations, but will be purchasing any emergency supplies from Daddy Bezos (Amazon)
