Story
We are all so devastated to hear of Sara's cancer recurrence. For those who don’t know, Sara was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic colon cancer in June of 2022. She endured 12 rounds of chemo, neuropathy, multiple ambulance rides, ER visits and hospital stays, 3 surgeries and so much pain. She had been in remission since February of 2023, but a recent colonoscopy revealed a malignant tumor. Sara will be starting chemo again in a few weeks for 3-6 months- every other week. It will be the same “cocktail” as before, which gave her the neuropathy. This time around, Sara plans to continue teaching at SSHS during treatment which may be a little challenging, but Sara is committed. Let's step up and do whatever we can to lighten Sara’s load! This Fight with Sara community is here to support her and her family as Sara and her husband both undergo treatment concurrently, with natural healing methods for her recurrence of colon cancer. Many people have offered to help or want to help but may not be sure what Sara needs. This platform allows her to share her needs and requests so her family and friends can offer the right support. Let’s surround Sara with prayers, love and care, helping her stay strong and positive throughout this journey. Thank you for your support, Leanna (Little sis)
Special Notes
Message from Sara: So many of you amazing folks have asked me how you can help, and what you can do, to let you know if we need anything, and generally in the moment I’m usually overwhelmed and can’t think of anything off the top of my head. My fellow cancer warrior WM shared this cool website with me so that I can share in a simple way with those that want to help! I can list specific things that would truly be a blessing to our family and help so much. **To simplify things and lighten the load during treatment and continuing to teach , I've hired a Holistic Nutritionist to assist with cooking up some meals for my family and I each week, including meal prepping lunches to take to work. This will be a lifesaver and a timesaver, to have healthy meals in our fridge each week, especially on the weeks I have chemo. There are options to assist with the expense of this listed once a week on the calendar. ($75/week). We are still always grateful to receive healthy meals and/or groceries from friends. Just call or text if you would like to cook up a meal or have something delivered =) We also love and appreciate the Costco type take n bake meals for the kids, if you don’t have time to cook. (chicken pot pie, street tacos, chicken Alfredo, lasagna, rotisserie chicken noodle are some ideas) **Integrative Oncology Nurse Consultation: The nurse I’d like to meet with is highly recommended. I’d love to dive deeper into natural ways to heal in conjunction with necessary medical care. https://healnavigator.com/integrative-oncology-nurse-consultation/ January - Initial consultation $180 February - continued follow and education $180 March - continued follow and education $180 **I have created an Amazon Wellness wish list with items such as supplements and natural things that I am taking monthly that have been recommended to help me beat this!! There are also some items that are a one time purchase. Amazon wish list linked at the bottom of this page if you’d like to purchase something! **High dose Vitamin C IVs (Sierra Hydration) 775.235.2441 https://sierraivhydration.com/blog/benefits-of-high-dose-vitamin-c-for-wellness These have a cost involved that is just out of our budget. They are highly recommended several days a week. $205/visit Membership at Bioworx to be able to utilize their infrared sauna. There are many studies that show that infrared sauna use can help prevent or reverse cancer! The membership is $259 for 16 sessions a month, if you’d like to assist in this cost! https://mybioworx.com/sparks-nv/ **Bi-weekly housecleaning fee: When I was offered my teaching position back, I joked to Johnny- “Only if we can get a housekeeper!” Well, we were able to recently hire a nice young woman and she has been a GodSend. I can only imagine how grateful we’ll be, to be able to continue this service as we both go through treatment. However, this is something that is usually the first to go when we’re making budget cuts as medical bills start to roll in during the beginning of the year until our deductible is met. $150/biweekly **Sprouts gift card: https://sproutsstore.wgiftcard.com/responsive/personalize_responsive/chooseDesign/sprouts/1 *Give, Send, Go! - The original campaign was reactivated in case that is the best way to donate rather than using payment apps. https://givesendgo.com/fightwithsara?utm_source=sharelink&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=fightwithsara
