Supporting Maddox on His Journey to Healing

Mt Juliet, TN

Story

Our sweet and resilient Maddox is preparing for a big journey—one that will bring him relief from years of pain and help him move through the world with greater comfort and ease. Maddox is 14 years old and has autism. Since he was little, he has struggled with pain and mobility issues in his legs and hips, and over time, these challenges have only grown. After much consideration and medical consultations, it’s finally time for surgery to help correct these issues and give him a better quality of life. On March 14th, Maddox will undergo a Femur Intertrochanteric Osteotomy, a procedure where his femur will be carefully cut, repositioned into proper alignment, and secured with rods. At the same time, he will have a Gastrocnemius Recession, a surgery to lengthen his calf muscles and improve his mobility. This is a major surgery, and it will be a long and difficult recovery process. He will be in a wheelchair for at least six weeks after surgery and will need a lot of support as he heals. This is only the first step—four months later, he will go through the same process again on his other leg. It will be a long road, but we know Maddox’s strength, determination, and spirit will carry him through. As we navigate these next months, we deeply appreciate all the love and support from our community. Whether it’s sending words of encouragement, keeping our family in your thoughts, or helping with meals or other needs, we are so grateful for any kindness you can offer. Thank you for walking this journey with us. Your love and support mean the world to Maddox and our family. We will continue to update this page as he recovers, and we are hopeful for brighter, pain-free days ahead for him!
