Story
My beloved has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. While the oncologist feels targeted therapies can do wonders, there isn’t a cure. So for the next 3-4 months, Barb and her newly revved immune system will be beating the crap out of those uninvited cancer cells. She has 4 more treatments scheduled – though more may be added depending on the response. If you truly know Barb, she has probably fixed something on your car. Or your house. Or moved some heavy-ass furniture you probably should have thrown away. She’s shown you how to tile or grout or taught you how to use some scary, sharp tool. She has spent her life helping everyone around her. While such a cliché saying, it’s so true: it’s time to support her. It's also supporting us. Besides family, friends, and pets, Barb loves her job. She loves being a supervisor and her team at Thermo King. Her doctor said going back to work, within reason, will be a great way to stay active and engaged. Of course, that comes with a price – she will need more downtime at home. While I can pick up some slack, I can’t do it all. Bringing a meal, helping with a yard clean-up day, offering to walk our high-strung dog or help funding a dog walker, or a contribution toward her (now) crazy hospital bills or one of Barb’s favorite beers is outstanding. It’s a great way to show support to someone that, I am sure, helped unclog your gross toilet or nasty garbage disposal, served up your favorite frosty beverage at the Arcade Bar, or was just plain cool shooting the shit with you on a patio. AND we ALL love her. Like in a major, big, punch- your- fist- to- the-sky way. Like Texas-size Love. She, we, need some Texas (or Minnesota) size love right now. Please support in any way you can, even if it's a friendly card or letter. Keeping spirits high is key.
Special Notes
No onion, olives, or salad greens. Suggsted food days are based on work schedules but open to other days/times if offered. Yard-clean up day / times are suggestion and weather dependant. That high-strung, lovely dog can literally be walked anytime. Like 2am. But I wouldn't suggest. We'll be sleeping,
