Supporting one of our own T1D families going through a rough time

Sterling, VA

Story

Hello T1D tribe. One of our own needs our help. I’m helping them for their anonymity since asking for help not just for you, but your family and kids, is incredibly difficult. With their permission, they’ve approved me organizing some help for the family as they know many of us in these groups. If you’re near the Sterling, VA area, I’m happy to pick up supplies and deliver them to you. One of our own who we all know well and have kids that are friends is struggling. Asking for help is impossible most days but the mom has allowed me to reach out and help. Over the past few months, the primary breadwinner of the family lost their job. While heavily interviewing and doing side jobs they are almost out of savings. The mama bear has been doing side jobs on top of her professional job and is running out of steam and resources. With Christmas coming up, her T1D kiddo and sibling are at risk of missing out. They’ve leveraged other family’s financial support as well as letting them borrow cars as they’ve a critical part to their car broke this week. (Any leads on a garage near Sterling that might help a struggling family right now?) Most needed, direct donations/gift cards help with groceries, medical supplies, Dr appointment copays, gas, home costs (utilities, mortgage), vehicle repairs, getting to interviews (Uber), etc.
