Story
Colon surgery and a cancer diagnosis. Scary sounding at any age but at 29??? In Fall 2024, Meg began feeling sick with various symptoms, including gastrointestinal concerns. She was out of work on and off for months, and has been officially on leave since the beginning of the year. After many appointments, tests and an ER visit, she was finally able to get scheduled for a colonoscopy. Unfortunately, during the procedure on February 19th they discovered a large mass in her lower colon (which Megan named Derek after a character in the “Good Place”). Biopsies during the colonoscopy were inconclusive, but after the surgery on March 31st to remove the mass with margins, the pathology came back positive as cancerous. Megan had her Oncology consult on April 16th and will begin six months of chemotherapy on May 5th. This will be an extremely challenging time for Megan but she is strong and WILL get through this...one appointment/procedure at a time...with Sarah-Grace and her village alongside her. Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out to provide support to Meg and Sarah and we will update you as we continue through this journey.
