Let’s show some love and support to Kari, Bill, and their family.

Story

Hi everyone! Many of you know my friends Bill and Kari. We are starting this meal and gift card train for them during this really difficult time. Here is a little of what has been going on the last few months from their daughter. Hello! My name is Kacie and I am reaching out for help on behalf of my parents, Bill and Kari Davis. My family received devastating news in April of this year. My mom was diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma (stomach cancer). At our first meeting with the oncologist, we were told that the cancer hadn't spread based on the PET scan and was curable. The next morning, I discovered that someone else's PET scan had been uploaded to my mom's patient portal. Everything that we were told at our first appointment was based on someone else's PET scan. I cannot begin to describe the range of emotions I felt at this discovery or how much it broke my heart to have to be the one to tell my Mom that an error was made. Later that night after reviewing the correct PET scan, we were told by the oncologist via a phone call that the cancer had spread. She was considered Stage IV. Since the beginning of May, my mom has been admitted to the hospital three times and for a total of 21 days as a result of complications from the cancer. She is currently receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy with palliative intent. She completed her third round of treatment on June 26th. Kacie has also started a GoFundMe that I have linked to this page. And the reason for that is to help raise funds for Bill to be able to take time off of work in order to help take care of her Mom. He is the sole income for the household and he used all of his PTO during her Mom's hospital admissions. He is doing it all right now - working, taking care of her Mom and raising their 12-year-old daughter, Addisyn. We appreciate all of your support, thoughts, and prayers! Thank you!
