Story
Hi there, thank you for joining the GiveInKind community to support my mom, Ophra Rudolph. What is Give InKind and Why are we leaving CaringBridge? - We will use this Give InKind's platform to post updates on her health and treatment plan, as well as dates/times on when we may need help with meals and doctor visits. CaringBridge did not have a good user interface (UI) to share transport needs. - "Follow" this page to continue to receive updates when they are immediately posted. You are able to react and comment on our posts, just like you can on Facebook. - Here is a FAQ page if you have any further questions about this platform: https://www.giveinkind.com/faq. Summarized update on her diagnosis: - Ophra has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Her CBC blood counts are low, and she will need blood transfusions and monthly HMA infusions to support her health. - I suggest not googling and using this link to understand more about AML instead (directly shared from the doctor): --> AML in Adults: https://www.lls.org/sites/default/files/2023-06/PS32_Adult_AML_2023.pdf Need to know for visitors: - She is now considered immunocompromised. Visitors must be up to date on flu, COVID, and other vaccines, or wear an N95 mask. She will need to avoid large events. At weddings, birthdays, and big dinners, she will sit off to the side and wear an N95 mask. ------------ Thank you all for your love, support, and patience as we embark on this challenging journey. For now, mom is open to limited phone calls. Please text Izzy or Gary ahead of time to schedule a call.
Special Notes
Mom is on a neutropenic diet which means she is cannot eat raw fruits and veggies. See update from 2/10 for more details if you plan to help prepare a meal. Please DO NOT bring her flowers or plants due to their potential spread of bacteria. You can get her artificial plastic plants or origami paper plants.
