Jay's Recovery Team

WHITESTOWN, IN

Story

Jay had surgery on Nov. 13 to repair his rotator cuff. The surgery was successful and now the real work begins. Jay needs to really rest his shoulder for six months in order for the repair to heal correctly. This means we will use a hoyer lift for every transfer in and out of his bed, his chair, etc. He will not be driving until cleared by doctor...probably around 5-6 months. He has at-home OT and PT and nursing for the next month at least. A Few Praises So Far...there are too many to name! Dr. Bender and the staff at Forte were incredible. We got such good care. Family and friends who continue to show up to encourage. Our kids who remain willing to help around the house and with using the hoyer. A fixed bed, delicious meals, fellowship, puzzles, end tables, hoyer help, encouraging texts, ...etc. etc. Prayer requests: For Jay's shoulder to completely heal so he can be back at full strength. For patience for both Jay and Amy during recovery time. (That Jay wouldn't go too stir-crazy!) For our whole family to stay healthy. For our attitudes during this season to glorify God!

Special Notes

Healthier dinner options welcomed. Not too spicy for Jay! Hoyer Lift Volunteer Team - (If you want to help with the hoyer lifts, please reach out to Jay before signing up.) Please text Amy or Jay the night before to check on time and whether you're needed or not. Some of the morning lifts will require bathroom transfers and men are preferred. This process may take up to 1.5 hours. We will update needs every two weeks. THANK YOU! Amy- 317-677-4571
