Story
In mid-March, Lori was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has four areas of concern: one is invasive ductal carcinoma (Stage 1A), and the other three are ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS, Stage 0). To treat this, Lori will undergo a double mastectomy on May 30 to remove all tumors. During the surgery, a few lymph nodes will also be removed and tested to determine whether the cancer has spread. The pathology results will take a couple of weeks, and they will help her medical team decide if chemotherapy and/or radiation will be necessary. Lori will also have expanders placed during the mastectomy as the first step in breast reconstruction. These expanders will be gradually filled and eventually replaced with implants several months later, once healing is complete and any further treatments are finished. Recovery from a double mastectomy typically takes 4–6 weeks. Any support—whether through meals, donations, kind words, or simply sharing her story—is deeply appreciated. Most of all, your prayers would mean the world to Lori and her family as they face this journey with strength, faith, and hope.
